Gerd Arntz

Gerd Arntz was born in 1900 and lived till 1988. He was an artist with a clear-cut style inspired by his socialist background.

In close cooperation with Otto Neurath, Gerd Arntz designed around 4000 pictograms and illustrations for the ISOTYPE system, which stands for International System Of TYpographic Picture Education.

From his nineteenth Gerd Arntz lived in Düsseldorf (Germany) In 1934 he emigrated to The Hague (The Netherlands) where he resided until his death.
